Factors of Affecting Amusement Rides’ Service Life

      Amusement rides have certain service life, no matter large, medium, or small ones. What factors can affect their service life?
     Firstly, during operation, amusement rides are affected by force, and almost all the structures and parts are relatively changing to bear fatigue load. The main failure mode is fatigue rupture. If the materials show no initial crack, after through some stress cycles, crack appears by the accumulation of fatigue rupture. Crack will continue extending until total cross section happens. Stress cycles number before crack formed is called no cracking life; stress cycles number between crack formed and fatigue rupture is crack growth life. The total life of parts is the sum of both. Generally speaking, rides’ structural life is the foundation of the whole ride’s natural service life. Each stress cycle will do damage to the parts, and the damage can accumulate; when the damages accumulate to the critical value, parts will generate fatigue rupture.
      Secondly, the other factor is wear life. Under the function of friction, surfaces of the rides wear off continuously during relative movement, such as axle and bearings, wheel gears. This kind of wear damages coordinating size and intensity among parts, and when wear amount is beyond the permitting limit, the rides cease to be effective.
     Also, there are more factors that can affect rides’ service life, so we need to maintain all the parts of the rides in the daily life and pay more attention on rainy or snowy days!
